Why Should Biggleswade become a Fairtrade Town?
In a Fairtrade Town there are shops / cafés selling Fairtrade products so people are able to buy Fairtrade.
What is the point of buying Fairtrade? -
Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
When you buy a product carrying the FAIRTRADE Mark, it guarantees that farmers in developing countries get an agreed and stable price for their goods and workers benefit from labour and environmental standards. The better deal from Fairtrade means that producers can cover their costs of sustainable production and also benefit from the additional Fairtrade premium which is invested in social, economic and environmental development projects.
The Fairtrade Foundation Web Site has answers to any questions that you may have plus information about initiatives such as Fairtrade Fortnight.
Fairtrade International comprises 25 organizations working to secure a better deal for producers. From their Headquarters in Bonn, Germany, they set international Fairtrade standards and support Fairtrade producers
We would like to thank all of the organisations that have assisted and supported us.
